MU Turfgrass & Ornamental Field Day

MU Turfgrass & Ornamental Field Day sponsored by Missouri Landscape & Nursery Association, Missouri Valley Turfgrass Association and University Extension, will be held Tuesday, July 12, 2005 at University of Missouri South Farms, 3600 East New Haven Road, Columbia, Missouri, 65201.      walk with that tour, which are grouped by a common
     focus. The facilitators will lead the group in a
     discussion of each particular topic and allow plenty
     of time for questions and open discussion. We
     wish to keep this very informal.

Recommendations will be made for control of specific pest. Ornamental Landscapes and Problem Solving Dr. Chris Starbuck, Associate Professor - Division of Plant Sciences, MU Participants will learn to focus on the anatomical features that are useful in identifying trees and shrubs. They will learn about books, guides and websites useful in woody plant ID. During a walking tour of the MU campus, participants will practice what they learned as they look at specific examples illustrating a logical identification process. Sports Turf Management Brad Fresenburg, Turfgrass Specialist - Division of Plant Sciences, MU Dr. Rex Sharp, Head Athletic Trainer, Intercollegiate Athletics, MU This will consist of a mobile tour featuring Safety Issues of Synthetic Fields, the Renovation of MU’s Baseball Outfield (sand cap design with drains) and the construction phase of renovating MU’s Softball Field (what all is taking place). Garden Landscapes Dr. David Trinklein, Associate Professor - Division of Plant Sciences, MU Ms. Mary Kroening, State Master Gardener Coordinator - Division of Plant Sciences, MU This workshop will tour Shelter Gardens and provide information on specie selections related to exterior garden landscapes.
